Welcome to The Cottonworks!

About The Cottonworks

The Cottonworks is nestled away on the banks of The River Derwent within the 18th century UNESCO World Heritage site of Darley Abbey Mills.

Our Head Chef; Joe and his team serve up a seasonal dishes from a fresh food kitchen.
Join us for light bites, lunch & evening dining. We also have a separate Pizzeria serving freshly made pizza day & night. Sunday here are all about our popular Sunday roasts.

Booking in at the bistro is recommended throughout the weekend although if you are popping in last minute, we will always do our best to get you a table.

You can book a table through our online booking service, just follow the link below. For larger group bookings, please contact us.

Summer At The Cottonworks Bistro
Expect summer seasonal ingredients & a generally lighter touch to dishes. The daytime menu is a little more casual during the summer with lots of interesting small plates & sharing dishes to enjoy in the sun by the river.

Booking in at the bistro is recommended throughout the weekend although if you are popping in last minute, we will always do our best to get you a table.

Parking
We have 8 parking spaces directly outside the bistro, and there is additional parking 100 yards away in the general car park for the mills.
Access
Unfortunately the bridge in Darley Abbey is now closed to vehicles. If you are driving, please come into the mills via Haslams Lane, driving through the mills & turning sharp right at the little white toll booth. You will see a sign for our business at the toll booth.

Riverbank Terrace
During the summer months, we open up our river terrace for casual dining & drinks.
We have 72 covers on three levels with riverside views from every table. Children must be accompanied by an adult & sat at the table at all times. Well behaved dogs welcome in the outside area only.

Inside The Cottonworks
We have 80 covers spread out in the nooks & crannies of this fascinating 18th century building which is split into two dining rooms.
The Original Dining Room seats 40, this is the first room when you enter the building. It weaves it’s way though the ground floor, joining on to our second dining room ‘The Old Bike Shop’ seating 40 which in the summer – with the outer doors open – has views along the courtyard.
